Ep. 112: Strawberry | Utah RV travel camping

Close to Utah’s population center along the Wasatch Front, Strawberry Reservoir offers excellent boating, water skiing and canoeing. Utah’s most popular Blue Ribbon fishery, anglers fish for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout and Kokanee salmon. Other popular activities in the Strawberry area include hiking, biking and horseback riding, and of course camping. The Strawberry OHV Trail System offers 75 miles of trails.

Friends Dan and Beth took delivery of their first travel trailer on a Thursday night, and by Friday afternoon we were all heading to Strawberry with our dogs and our RVs for a little boondocking, socializing, and water play.

Filmed August 2-4, 2019.

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, always filmed in stunning 4K.

We’re based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and dog Zoe are avid boondockers, so you’ll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we’re usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we’re not RV dealers or full-timers — we’re “long-timers” who tend to hit the road for weeks or months at a time, while maintaining a sticks-and-bricks home in Utah.

We’ll provide beautiful travel videos, as well as some tips and insight on trip planning, and equipping and maintaining your RV to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember…life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

I used to go boating with my grandparents at Strawberry lake back in the 1960’s. I have not been there since, so it is on my travel list, thanks to this great video.

  16. Don Canaday on September 13, 2021 at 11:22 pm

Thanks again Marc. We are escaping a Texas heat and heading to northern New Mexico and southern Colorado next week. We will be seeing some country we have seen before and some we haven’t, thanks to your videos. Thanks. Safe travels. Question. I am a new drone flyer (Mavic 2 Pro) and have never done any editing. Any tips on an editor I should try? Yours is great.

  17. ric03014 on September 13, 2021 at 11:23 pm

I recently replaced my vent covers as well. Prior to installing, I sprayed one with white plastic rattle can paint, another with clear flex seal and left the other two alone. Just spray I had laying around. Interested to see if coatings will extend life of covers. Great video.

  18. Didi Bolter on September 13, 2021 at 11:25 pm

Is there a problem with mosquitoes in this area? This summer I have already been bit 16 times and summer isn’t even close to being over! I don’t use bug spray because I don’t like all those chemicals on my skin. Nice video on a nice place/area! I LOVE ❤ your dogs, their very precious!!

  19. Timothy Johnson on September 13, 2021 at 11:27 pm

Great video.. But you didn’t leave the coordinates of your campsite..

  20. Jim Frazee on September 13, 2021 at 11:28 pm

Loved watching the Vizsla, who reminds me so much of my own! Glad that they finally got him to swim. Also, I appreciate that you know how to pronounce “potable” unlike many Youtubers. 😉

  26. Wayne AMERICA on September 13, 2021 at 11:35 pm

Mark my wife and I love the outdoors and also have kids that live in WY.
Your video makes us want to start asap but still trying to decide if we want to tow a camper or just drive.
We are both one year out from full retirement and want to pull the plug and camp at least 50% of the year .

    Any suggestions ?

  27. Kim Bailey on September 13, 2021 at 11:35 pm

We are trying to plan a boondocking trip to Snake River or Green River Wyoming. Do you have any tips or site suggestions for that area? We have a St. Bernard and Aussie Shepherd and a 9 yr old autistic son who loves camping, fishing and the outdoors. We just bought a new 2019 Forest River Heritage Glen Hyper-Lyte bunk house BHHL-24 ft. and love it. Just spent the weekend camping at Guernsey Reservoir. We like dry camping mostly.

  28. BkcntryRVer on September 13, 2021 at 11:36 pm

Hi, Mark. I stayed at the CG on Strawberry earlier this summer. I was headed to the San Rafael Swell and this was a beautiful location, especially
after spending 2 weeks at Hill AFB Fam Camp. LOL

  29. CharlesinGA on September 13, 2021 at 11:39 pm

You really need to do something with that sorry little vent fan. At the very least, and so as to not disturb the sealant and frame of the existing vent, get a Hengs Vortex II multi speed/reversible vent fan, it fits in the existing metal frame. If you ever replace the rubber roof, buy a complete new fan. I’ve had both the Fantastic and the Maxxair and I think I prefer the Maxxair Deluxe with the all weather hood that raises and allows you to run the fan in rain and such.
The Hengs VortexII vent would do you much better than those tiny little fans, and are easy to install, as Love Your RV did in this video https://youtu.be/4-P53yGwmo8 ($78 on Amazon)

  30. Gorrdd on September 13, 2021 at 11:41 pm

Another video that I missed from earlier. I really loved the white birch surrounding your campsite on this tour. I don’t know what it is about white birch that is so attractive.

I guess because they are white, tall, straight, and don’t have any low lying branches. They have a very Romanesque appearance… like beautiful while columns.

I also noticed a number of very attractive wild flowers in the area… but this was in the middle of August. I gather they have these wild flower blooms throughout the summer…

    Thanks for another great video!!

Just started watching you. Great videos. Thanks for showing public campgrounds also. Not the true boondocker like yourself. Live on east coast, not old enough tell stop working.

  38. Gavin Streetie on September 13, 2021 at 11:48 pm

See the size of those pitch’s , we go for more togetherness here in the uk by putting at least four in the same area as your one 😂😂😂 but then at least it’s not just us that gets the rain ! You guys look so chilled in strawberry 🍓 thanks G&Z

  39. Merle Muhe on September 13, 2021 at 11:48 pm

Brings back alot of memories as we used to park our motor home there all summer and had the boat in the marina.Fishing used to be outstanding from a boat. Not only rain but you can get a lot of high wind too. Alas I ran for more remote places and now reside in Alaska.

  40. Laughing Ram on September 13, 2021 at 11:48 pm

Nice campsite….you didn’t post the link to it. 😞

    Were those Aspens or Birch?

    Thanks Marc.

  49. Eric Wimmer on September 14, 2021 at 12:00 am

Thanks so much for your videos. We just got back from boondocking at Mud Creek because of this video. I was not sure if you were in Mud Creek or Clyde Creek. Either way, we had a great location up in the trees, caught tons of fish, visited with friends and even had a fly over from Utah’s Hill Air Force!
